Tankless Water Heaters | Hot Water Tanks

Hot Water Tanks

Traditional water heaters are available in varying levels of efficiency. They are measured by Energy Factor, which shows the relative efficiency of that tank. For water tanks, this is primarily dependent upon the amount of insulation in the walls of the tank. The most common water tank energy factors are between .58 and .62. In comparison, a tankless water heater would usually have an energy factor between .82 and .93.

If your water tank is leaking currently, we may be able to get out there the same day to replace it. Because it cannot always be the same day, it is best to replace your tank before it starts leaking heavily.

Phone Quotes
We are able to give you quotes by phone for replacement of your water tank. We prefer to see the tank first, but we can give you a quote by phone if you call with the make and model of your existing tank.

To give you an accurate price, we will also need to know if any additional work will be required to bring you up to current codes. Please review the codes below and see if any additional work will be required for your tank installation, then call us at 866-496-5757 for a quote by phone. Please be aware that any quote by phone is only as good as the information provided. It is possible for something to be missed, which is why we prefer to see the job first.

Common code requirements:

Earthquake Straps
These hold your tank in place in case of an earthquake and prevent breaks in the gas line or other problems a tipping tank could cause.

Expansion Tank
As your water heats and expands, it puts extra stress on your tank and your plumbing. An Expansion Tank helps reduce this extra stress and prolongs the life of your tank. An expansion tank will usually be somewhere near the water heater and will be about the size of a gallon jug. This is a fairly recent addition to plumbing code equirements, so even if your home is fairly new you may not have an expansion tank already.

Pressure and Temperature Relief
Your Pressure and Temperature Relief (P&T) line should be run outside or to an appropriate location.

Drip Pan
If your water heater sits on a surface that would be damaged by a water leak, you need a drip pan to prevent damage to your property. This would ideally drain outside if at all possible.

Stand
If your gas water heater is in a garage, it needs to be on a stand 18" off the garage floor to prevent combustible fumes from entering the combustion chamber.
