Customer stated that their furnace will turn on and the pilot will light, the system will not stay on and the unit continues to blow out cold air. Upon investigation, our technician found that the furnace would intermittently ignite but would not stay lit for extended period. Upon arrival inducer motor was making a grinding/whining noise and also had high amp readings, may go out in future. The HSI was within manufacturer’s specifications, so this was not the issue. Flame sensor reading was a little low, but not enough to cause intermittent operations. Upon checking pressure ports I recognized cracking in the tubing, I wrapped with tape to plug cracks as a temporary solution, may need to come back to replace in future. This solved the issue with intermittent operations and causing system to shut off shortly after lighting. Blower wheel is starting to get dirty, I recommend a cleaning for this, and the blower capacitor is out of specifications. No other issues at this time.

Customer requested maintenance for their electric furnace before listing their home for sale. He mentioned that the unit had not been turned on in awhile. Upon arrival, the technician found that they were unable to perform the standard maintenance because the furnace would not turn on. After performing a diagnostic, the technician jumped R and W terminals and EF started up (problem is with Thermostat). Thermostat was replaced and system is functioning properly. They found no other issues.
